We can’t wait for the follow up to Gary Hustwit’s series on design. First there was Helvetica, then Objectified and now he’s working to release Urbanized – a full length documentary on city design. Featuring some of the world’s best thinkers, strategists, architects and policy makers, Urbanized reports on the issues facing urban design. It’s an interesting and important topic, because currently over half the world’s population lives in urban areas, and it’s projected that by 2050 more than 75% of the world will call a city home. As Hustwit explains, “But while some cities are experiencing explosive growth, others are shrinking. The challenges of balancing housing, mobility, public space, civic engagement, economic development, and environmental policy are fast becoming universal concerns.” Urbanized is on Kickstarter – help support its completion here.
