Art & Culture: Scintillation by Xavier Chassaing

Written by Joanne Lam: Scintillation is a short experimental film by Xavier Chassaing that truly lives up to its title. By seamlessly stitching together over 35,000 photographs through stop motion animation and live projection techniques, the film brings the stillest of objects to life – a necklace, crown molding, branches, a white orchid. As the camera swivels steadily around the flower, little bursts of light explode across the petals like fireflies unleashed. The result is art in motion, and it is simply scintillating.
