NEW YORK'S HIGHLINE

The story behind the High Line is a shining example of civic engagement. From idea to execution, the abandoned rail that ran freight above New York City is now a sprawling walkway park. After much debate, effort and anticipation it opens today. Below we’ve included a video from the Behance Conference where Robert Hammond, co-founder of Friends of High Line, discusses the project. Things to Know Before You Visit the High Line
The High Line is now open! We hope you’ll visit us in the coming days and weeks. Before you come to the High Line, there are a few things you should know:
Location: The High Line is located on the West Side of Manhattan. The first section runs from Gansevoort Street, in the Meatpacking District, to West 20th Street, in Chelsea, between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues.
Access Points: Because of the large number of visitors we expect in this initial opening period, we ask that visitors enter from the Gansevoort Access Point, located at Gansevoort and Washington Streets, unless you are in need of an elevator. Elevator access is located at 16th Street. You may exit the park at any of the access points.
