MODERN LANDMARKS OF PALM SPRINGS

Palm Spring’s buzz continues to grow, but perhaps it never left. The desert hide-away known for its modern architecture and swanky cool is making its way back on the radar as a popular destination for travelers in the know. The newly opened Ace Hotel is a prime example, but back in 1946 icons like Frank Sinatra knew about the desert escape.
Recently, the UK’s Telegraph wrote a nice piece on Palm Springs. They also featured a gallery of its modern landmarks. We’ve posted a few pics below. But also check out the article. Back in 1946, when Frank Sinatra had made his first million bucks, he celebrated by commissioning a hip new house in the desert resort of Palm Springs, 110 miles south-east of Los Angeles. It had motor-driven glass sliding doors, state-of-the-art recording equipment and a flagpole, but the winning feature was a heated swimming pool shaped like a grand piano. Alongside – and this is the definition-of-cool bit – there was even a pergola that cast shadows resembling the black keys.” Click Read More for additional information and photos.
