In the West Bank the walls are beginning to speak peace. Check out Time Magazine’s interesting video about the matter. As they report, “For 30 Euros, a group of Palestinian peace activists will paint your message on the Israeli-built separation wall in the West Bank.”

Putin isn’t slowing down any time soon. “From the uncertainty that followed the break-up of the Soviet Union, a newly invigorated Russia has emerged, displaying unprecedented political, military and economic confidence that ahs, at times, put it on a collision course with the west.”

In 2005 women were granted political rights in Kuwait. Today, more proof of progress reveals itself. “Official results announced on state television show that Kuwaiti women have won parliamentary elections for the first time, garnering four seats. The victory is resounding in this conservative Persian Gulf country where parliaments have been men-only for almost five decades.”

Today the Economist reports on the possible end of a war. “The discovery on Monday May 18th of the bodies of senior Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka, including a vicious supremo, Velupillai Prabhakaran, and his son, brings to an end the rebels’ long-running conventional battle. The movement has fought violently against six administrations and assassinated a former Indian prime minister in a bid to carve out a separate Tamil state in Sri Lanka.”

More swine flu news for our readers traveling to Japan. “Japan rushed to contain a widening outbreak of swine flu on Monday as global health ministers met in Geneva to discuss vaccine preparations and other preventative measures against the new flu strain.”
