PAPER SCISSOR STONE

Written by Tom Kirkby: Paper Scissor Stone is a store by illustrator Si Scott and menswear label Electronic Poet. Opening at the tail end of 2008, it perfectly meshes art and fashion, style and grace and is run by people who really know what’s up. Take the manager, Lee, for example. Lee is the original sneaker head, importing rare sneakers to sell at the young age of 15, he’s grown with the scene and nearly encyclopedic in his knowledge of the subject. People like Lee paved the way for high street sneaker stores like ?ize and schuch to get as big as they are.
The shop itself is tucked away in Leeds’ regenerated and understatedly cool ‘Calls’ area, just out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the high street, yet close enough to be in the thick of it. The clothes it carries from labels such as Rittenhouse and Wood Wood, are the kind of understated cool that show you really know your threads. They’re all presented extremely well, which is important. We’re impressed to say the least. Leeds is fast becoming the London of the North, with loads of independent shops springing up.
