THE CITROEN KARIN CONCEPT CAR

Each decade has its own interpretation of the future. In 1980 Trevor Fiore presented the Citroën Karin (pictured above). Conceptually it was a bold step in car design with many risks. When people were interested in curves (i.e., 1980’s corvette) he presented straight lines at the Paris Motor Show. One thing is certain, whether it’s the past, present or future there will always be an appreciation for symmetry and balance.

Shaped like a pyramid with the driver seat located in the center of the car, the Citroen Karin offered something different within the runaway stream of futuristic car design. Sometimes we wish designers would return to the era of heavy straight lines rich with character. Why not? After all it isn’t a race to see who can build the curviest car.
