HONG KONG WETLAND PARKS

Written by Joseph Ng: Really? Hong Kong has a wetland park? I thought Hong Kong was only known for shopping and eating? Well, consider this interesting fact: 70% of the Hong Kong land mass is protected country parks. Hidden in the New Territories away from the hustle and bustle is Hong Kong Wetland Park. It is a conservational, educational and tourism facility that is intended to be an ecological mitigation area for the wetlands due to the New Town developments nearby.

Designed by veteran Hong Kong architect Raymond Fung, this project is probably the most understated yet beautiful architecture project in Hong Kong. The outdoor pathways were once completely land filled, only to be re-sculpted into the beautiful vista that looks out to the wetlands. A lot of effort had been put into hiding the buildings so that visitors can get as close to nature as possible. It is great for a momentary getaway from the concrete jungle and be one with nature. Just remember though when you are in the enjoying the park, don’t look back. Click Read More for additional information and photos.
