Places to Shop: A Vibrant Cool at London's Brick Lane

Written by Tom Kirkby: Every city has its thrift area, fashion district and generally cool hangout. Often times all three are combined. In some places like Newcastle it’s small with one or two shops, and in other places it’s really big, like the village in New York. In London, there’s only one street to be seen vintage shopping and that’s Brick Lane. Infamous in hipster circles and the impossibly cool, the atmosphere of the place doesn’t actually feel like London at all. It feels very continental, especially on Sunday’s with the market – which draws an array of people, selling the most random things.

Brick Lane is also the unofficial centre point of London’s newest craze, fixed gear bikes. Proudly hosting three of the most famous of London’s track bike shops, you can find everything from neon pink pedals to the latest in all things fixed gear. Quite simply, Brick Lane is possibly the most vibrant street in London. Oxford street this is not. Click Read More for additional information and photos.
