WHO IS THIS CITY AGENCY NAMED BNE?

EVENTS: BNE. What does it stand for? It’s a mystery and who’s behind it even more so. You’ve probably seen the ubiquitous postcard-sized stickers if you’ve been to New York City, San Francisco or Tokyo. When we first saw them we thought they were city sanctioned – maybe a city agency or something. But then we saw them too often and noticed they were increasingly placed in more and more daring areas.
The New York Times has an interesting article on the person behind BNE. In all its ninja-style-secrecy the identity of BNE is hidden. But, despite the anonymity, BNE will be on display tonight in Manhattan sponsored by Mother an advertising agency.
As the Times reports: “This mischievous monogram, posted by marker, spray can, roller and especially stickers, has become part of the landscape of New York and cities worldwide, thrilling graffiti admirers and roiling public officials. Its saturation has provoked one of the more enduring Internet mysteries: What and who is B.N.E.?” Click Read More for additional information and photos.
