There are many parts of wejetset that I enjoy. But moments like this are by far my favorite. I love when readers submit work they’ve done that’s absolutely mind blowing. The above video landed in my inbox and I haven’t stopped watching it since. Brilliant stop motion photography matched with LCD Soundsystem’s Sound of Silver. Thanks for sending this our way Eric.
PSFK continues to forge ahead with their deeply inspiring line-up of conferences. They keep it simple, conversational and most importantly human – one speaker with a few slides discussing his/her idea in a very approachable way. We particularly enjoyed their recent posting of Charles Ogilvie’s presentation on the development of Virgin America’s in-flight entertainment system.
From their site: “At the PSFK Conference Asia 2008, Charles Ogilvie (Panasonic), Creative Designer and Inventor of RED, the award winning in-flight entertainment system for Virgin America, speaks about service innovation, new revenue models, and the use of airborne technology throughout Asia and the world at large.” Click Read More to watch Ogilvie’s presentation. Written by Nalden:Ah, Amsterdam – back home. I don’t know where to start when writing about one of my favorite boutiques, 290 Square Meters. I should probably start with this simple fact – it’s the best boutique in Europe. A bold and personal statement indeed – hahaha.
Last year the store moved from the KNSM islands in the North to the center of Amsterdam and went from 90sqm to 290sqm. They literally stayed low profile and underground. They’re located within a huge basement near Waterlooplein. So let’s say you find the store, walk down the stairs and see this huge space filled with clothes, gadgets, art, shoes, bikes, jewelry, perfume and who knows what more. Everything hand picked by the owner and his wife. You could say it’s their personal closet. The level of attention for their customers is also amazingly high. In the Netherlands we have a saying; “Klant is Koning” which basically means the customer is king. Well it looks like they invented that saying. We recommend visiting next time you’re in the area.
This documentary looks interesting.Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman is a film directed by Jennifer Fox about living in the world as a modern woman. She travels all over the world speaking to women of every possible class and situation interviewing them about their lives and their choices while being touchingly open and honest about her own life.
From the site: “What does the modern woman want? Where does she fit in today’s world? Never before in our collective human history have so many women had such autonomy to construct a life of their own creation. Yet, the terrain is still rocky and ‘choice’ does not necessarily bring happiness, let alone freedom. Meanwhile, old models of femaleness still haunt women everywhere. In this six-hour tour de force, Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman, master storyteller Jennifer Fox lays bares her own turbulent life to penetrate what it means to be a free woman today. As her drama of work and relationships unfolds over four years, our protagonist travels to over seventeen countries to understand how diverse women define their lives when there is no map.” Click Read More for additional information and photos.
Written by Nalden:During a quick business visit in Zurich I had the chance to see some of city center too. My friends showed me two of the nicest boutiques in this Swiss capitol of gold. Our first stop was Grandism. A fresh small boutique with all the usual street wear suspects – brands like Nike, Undercrwn, MHI by Maharishi, Adidas, Visvim, Idiom, etc. To be honest, I was expecting more Swiss brands. I was also amazed by the amount of sneakers Grandism carries. There was a wide variety of top caliber sneakers. Also, as a magazine junkie I was satisfied with the selection of publications. Too bad my German isn’t good enough to connect with the local print but the artwork was reason enough to function as eye candy. The store is located in a new area, kind of away from the touristic stuff, which is good for me. I always get panic attacks in those big malls. Grandism is a recommended visit while you’re in Zurich. Sometimes it feels like being green is more of an “in” thing as opposed to the “right” thing to do. It’s a very cool time to be green. We see green advertisements in all forms of media relating to a wide assortment of products – homes, paint, light bulbs, cars, clothing and accessories. With the increased media attention, going green is more convenient than ever.
