Local Events: 100 Day Bicycle Exhibition 2008 in Eindhoven

A fantastic gallery event is showing at Designhuis in Eindhoven. Entitled Bicycle, the 100 Day Exhibit (ending October 5) provides a massive display of imagination when it comes to two wheeled transportation. With categories ranging from Dream Bicycles to Sport and Reclining, you’ll see it all.

We were particularly intrigued with the event because of an interesting study conducted by the University of South Wales. In it researchers noted that, “as cycling participation increases, a cyclist is far less likely to collide with a motor vehicle or suffer injury and death – and what’s true for cyclists is also true for pedestrians. And it’s not simply because there are fewer cars on the roads, but because motorists seem to change their behaviour and drive more safely when they see more cyclists and pedestrians around.” Gallery events like Bicycle at Designhuis help spawn awareness and participation which may contribute to fewer bike accidents.
