Local bookstores rank high on our list of places to visit while traveling. If you’re roaming the streets of Paris, be sure to visit Assouline Books. The atmospheric storefront offers some of the best titles in art and design. Even if you don’t buy anything, experiencing their unique display of publications will remind you of visiting a contemporary art gallery.

Martine and Prosper Assouline established the sophisticated bookstores in 2004. They started out collaborating with brands like Lane Crawford, Celux and Harvey Nichols in locations spanning the globe. Then in 2005 they opened their Parisian flagship on rue Bonaparte.
