Places to Shop: Simplicity Strikes Times Square with Muji

Fans of Muji get ready. The super store built on simplicity is set to launch its second store in NYC. Muji, short for Mujirushi Ryohin meaning, “No Brand Quality Goods,” will open its flagship store in Times Square this Friday at Noon. In celebration of their opening, they’ll be giving away Chronotebooks to the first 500 people.
Late last year the Japanese retailer hit stateside with a bang. It brought its no branding ethos to SOHO with much acclaim. Many of you may remember its products at the Moma. They were showcased there for quite some time, but seeing the full store and products together helped better define the direction of the brand. As Muji states, ” It’s about designing your own life – not someone else’s. It’s a belief that simple is better than complicated. And it’s the knowledge that real simplicity is always the result of openness and honesty. Muji products spring from a commitment to moderation in all things except quality – and from the confident awarenesss that modesty and discretion are, together, the better part of style.” Be sure to check out the store opening on Friday.
