Places to See: Electroland's Interactive Works

Electroland is a design team that creates public art using tracking technology. One of our favorite projects, was EnterActive located in Los Angeles, CA and pictured above. They created a luminous field of red LED lights embedded into the entry walkway that respond to the movement of visitors. When the walkway interactivity was triggered the impact was mirrored on a eight-story grid of LED panels on the building facade. When completed, a video camera facing the building transmitted images to a plasma screen in the lobby, so visitors inside can see the effect their footwork is having outside. Brilliant!

They recently completed work for the new Indianapolis Airport in Indiana. “The ceiling of the Pedistrian Bridge is covered with a field of interactive illuminated dot lights that display several colors and exhibit a range of intelligent and playful behaviors, accompanied by sounds.” Click Read More for additional information and more photos.
