Places to Stay: The Beautiful Stylings of Mexico City's Condesa

I recently spent six days in Mexico city for a professional development workshop. During my short stay my days were kept busy as I visited the studios and galleries of Mexico’s booming art scene’s best curators and artists. I was also fortunate to be able to stay at a beautiful hotel and sample cuisine from a few of La Cuidad’s finest restaurants. My next series of posts will recount the places I saw, people I met and the culture I experienced. First up, Mexico City’s Hotel Condesa df. Click Read More for additional information and photos.

Aptly located in the Condesa neighborhood, this boutique hotel elegantly mixes turn of the century architecture and service with very modern interior design and sophisticated attitude. Although I emphasize getting out of your room and seeing all that Distrito Federal offers, the hotel does have a number of unique amenities. The extensive list includes a movie theater, dance floor, hot tub, hammam, shop, cultural center, in room i-pod and wi-fi, a well stocked bar, an excellent restaurant and a roof deck complete with couches and table service. My favorite employee of the hotel was Condie, the chocolate labrador that steadfastly guarded the entrance of the building, and that could sometimes be found lounging on a chair in the lobby.

Condesa df is centrally located, only a short taxi or metro ride to many of Mexico city’s museums and attractions. Or you might choose to stay in the neighborhood, as Condesa has it’s own up and coming scene. During the day you can visit the theaters, coffee shops, galleries and art studios that dot the borough’s small streets. At night numerous local restaurants and bars are open late, offering the perfect atmosphere for an after hours drink with friends.
