Places to Eat: One of Manchester's Best Independent Eateries

Written by Tom Kirkby: Manchester is famed for it’s thriving underground music scene. It’s home to international greats such as Oasis and Joy Division. But forget the music for a second, how good are Manchester’s independent eateries!? Trof in Fallowfield, located just outside of town, is a brilliant fusion of college youth and Manchester’s underground music culture. They have an open mic every Tuesday, and invite people to host their own club nights or gigs. It’s all about getting the local creative community involved, and what better place to do that than the middle of student-ville?

The food is excellent. Admittedly it’s slightly pricey for a student eatery, but the quality is there, and the portions aren’t sparse. They have a full bar, freshly made smoothies and a kick ass sunday lunch. In addition the overall vibe is good, it encourages you to hang around and have just one more coffee. Next time you’re in the area, be sure to check out Trof, it’s nailed the formula for good food, music and a chill vibe. Click Read More for additional information and photos.
