Places to See: Bulgaria's Forgotten City

Labeled as an attempt to attract tourism, Bulgaria plans to unearth a forgotten city. Found in 1948 at the bottom of a lake, the city of Seuthopolis may be revived at the center of an engineering feat. Local Authorities and Tilev Architects are planning to construct a dike – 460 yards in diameter and 20 yards in depth (below water level) – to create what appears to be an inverted island. Granted, we’re unsure whether this is going to actually happen, but the concept is so interesting it’s worth sharing. Click Read More for additional photos of the excavation concept.
