But after some investigation, it seems the claim is not only true but also very smart. Taking advantage of the current economic gloom as a springboard, the company believes it can change the game of transatlantic travel for the better.
The more airlines that collapse in these trying times, the lower the cost of aircrafts become. With such a big influx of unwanted jets coming onto the market, putting together a fleet could happen within the next 18 months. Michael O’Leary, Ryanair’s chief executive told the Daily Telegraph, “We won’t do this until we are at the bottom of the business cycle.” While waiting for the industry to collapse O’Leary has put together a comprehensive business plan identifying desired routes.
