Local Events: Storefront for Art & Architecture Opening

Written by Brittany Kleinman: In honor of the upcoming 44th presidential elections, last night we attended the White House Redux, a new exhibition at the Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York City. With almost 500 submissions from 42 countries around the world, White House Redux became one of the most talked-about architecture competitions in 2008. The brief was simple: what would the residence of the most powerful individual in the world, the White House in Washington, D.C., look like if it were designed today?
The show takes a sometimes cynical or mocking tone of the current political stance in America, but provides a fresh outlook for the future. Storefront for Art and Architecture, in association with Control Group, challenged architects to use their design sensibilities to take a critical view on the world’s most powerful individual. The best ideas, designs, descriptions, images, and videos were selected by some of the world’s most distinguished critics and will be featured in exhibition for the entire month of October. Check it out at Storefront for Art and Architecture, located on 97 Kenmare, NYC.
