Art & Culture: Ben Thomas the City Shrinker

Ben Thomas is a city shrinker. One look at his work and you’ll think he recreated a metropolitan scene with diorama-type craftsmanship. But, all of his works are photographs of actual cities – no dioramas here. Through post production work in photoshop, he manipulates his photography and present a lighter look at city life.

In an interview with Creative Review he describes the process, “Achieving the diorama effect essentially works around shifting or reducing the depth of field in a shot. This can be done one of two ways; you can change the depth of field in the shot with a tilt-shift lens, or you can use Photoshop (or similar) to do the same thing, with a lot more freedom.” Click Read More for additional information and photos from Ben Thomas.
