wejetset feature: Airbed & Breakfast and the Inauguration

written by Brittany Kleinman The inauguration is quickly approaching and everyone is scrambling for accommodations. Most hotels within 2 hours of the beltway are sold out. DC friends and family are ducking your calls. And you can’t figure out what park you want to camp in. So then what?

We suggest Airbed & Breakfast – the successful marketplace for peer-to-peer traveling. It’s pretty simple. As the site explains, “Nice folks, folks like you, list their guest rooms, futons, and even couches on the site and set a price per night. Adventurous travelers looking for a place to stay can search the listings for an accommodation that’s just right. When they find a match, guests can book the room via credit card.” So if you’re looking for that last minute place to stay, check out Airbed & Breakfast. They also sent over a promo code that’ll save you money when you book. Enter “wejetset” before checkout.

We recently had the opportunity to interview Joe Gebbia, one of the brilliant minds behind Airbed & Breakfast. Click Read More for the article and photos.

Places to Stay: Heading to Brooklyn? Stay at a Loftstel

Written by Brittany Kleinman: Recently, we got the chance to sit down with Jeff Pan the founder of Loftstel to hear how he went from business student to backpacker and relief worker to traveler’s savior. The Loftstel concept is exactly how the name sounds, a loft and hostel put together. Even though the company has only been around for 2 years, they have risen to the top among international students and interns who need a temporary place to stay while visiting the US.

Jeff grew up in Philadelphia and later attended Penn State for business. Like many fresh US college grads, he decided to hit the road and explore the world with only a backpack and a burning curiosity. Starting in Europe, and ending up in Thailand, Jeff spent 2 years exploring the world with his own eyes and found opportunities to give back along the way. Jeff was one of thousands of foreigners who have come to Phuket Island to help communities rebuild from the Dec. 26 tsunami. At age 22, he helped build a website called OneLife, for volunteers to find work in tsunami-affected areas and flew to Thailand to work in Bangtao. Carry On: featuring Tom Kirkby

tomkirkby.jpg

WEJETSET would like to introduce a new feature entitled Carry On. Here we’ll regularly spotlight a few of our readers and find out how they travel, what’s in their bag and what inspires them. Since wejetset is all about the ecology of movement, we want to hear how you efficiently travel. What are your resources? What do you take with you? What is the one thing you can’t go anywhere without? Whether you’re commuting to work or traveling to Shanghai, we want to hear about it. Feel free to send us an email if you would like to share your ideas through Carry On.

Our first featured traveler is Tom Kirkby. His extensive travel and passion to experience the world peaked our interest. Whether he’s on his bike, hiking through the pre-Andes or walking through Shibuya – he remains focused on taking in the moment. Read more of our interview with Tom below.
