THE CALENDAR PROJECT

wejetset calendar

One afternoon my wife and I visited the Philebrity offices and came across a really sharp calendar. The numbers were oversized, the layout was beautiful and best of all it was simple. I’d never seen them before and we began searching. We quickly discovered they were designed by Massimo Vignelli in 1966. Widely known as the Stendig Calendar, it’s become an icon of 60’s design.

At the time I wanted to get one for the studio but they were sold out everywhere. If you wanted one you had to pre-order it well in advance. So one evening I told my studio-mate, Jesse, about the calendar. He was like, “I can make that for you.” Jesse is an amazing screen printer and we’ve been meaning to tackle a few light-hearted projects together. This was the perfect opportunity. We decided to make June & July for fun to kick off our series of collaborations. We have a few extras to give away. Email us and we’ll send you one. Click Read More more for additional photos.

WEJETSET GIVES CAMPAIGN

after school

One of our favorite aspects of wejetset is our Gives Campaign. Each season we donate a portion of our profits to an important social cause. This season we chose Literacy. Over the past decade, Mt. Carmel YET Center has diligently worked to deliver top notch after school programming to elementary students in West Philadelphia. Lead by Ms. Viola Winston and Mr. Vincent Coles, their free program provides literacy support to young students in a very challenged area of the city. It’s really exciting work.

I had the personal honor of working with Mt. Carmel YET Center for years and saw their commitment to the community first hand. So it’s with great pleasure that we made a financial contribution to their program. Our donation will be used to expand their reading libraries and support teaching staff. Congratulations Mt. Carmel, you’re an inspiration to us all.

WEJETSET X BAGGU AT READING TERMINAL MARKET

reading terminal

WJS NEWS: Today the wejetset team headed to Philly’s Reading Terminal Market to hand out complimentary Baggu Bags to shoppers. The response was fantastic. Each season we donate a portion of our sales to an important social cause. This season we gave away reusable bags to curb the use of plastic. Using just one of the reusable bags for a year replaces 300 to 700 disposable bags that would be used in that time. If everyone used them it would greatly reduce the amount of plastic bags filling up landfills. Thanks to Elsa (super intern) and her team for organizing and making this project happen.
