Gadgets, gadgets and more gadgets. We love them. And with all of our gadgets come their tag along power cords, chargers and wires. Planning a trip, whether near or far, usually requires some thinking about how to accommodate these electrical companions. Today we’ve compiled a few of our favorite articles on the subject of power cords and you.

For instance, have you ever wondered what electrical adapter you would need for a particular country? What things should you consider when connecting your gadgets to various electrical systems? Lastly, is that extra power cord for your Mac too thick to pack and an overall pain to lug around? If so, check out these three articles providing tips and solutions for staying connected while traveling…

Wired Wiki – How to Stay Plugged in While Traveling [Read]

“All electricity is not created equal. In fact, the world is full of varying voltages and Hertz levels that make traveling with electronic devices somewhat complicated. This is perhaps the most complex problem gadget geeks headed abroad will face…”

World Electric Guide [Read]

Here you’ll find a simple table summarizing information on the electrical systems in use in most countries of the world. They’ve compiled the voltage information, frequency and type of plug necessary. So the next time you’re traveling to Algeria or Barbados you won’t have to wonder what type of plug adapter you’ll need.

Mac Laptop Power Cord Tip [Read]

We really enjoyed this tip, because we use macs and find the extra power cord inconvenient when traveling. Here’s a snippet of the article, “Every Mac comes with a long, bulky power cord and a small 2-prong nub. You can interchange them, but both are far from optimal for travel and field work (i.e. conference/convention blogging). Here’s my fix: use a power cord from a Sony PlayStation. There are other cords that will also fit into the Mac power brick, but the PlayStation cord is easy to find. Where the Mac power cord is too thick to easily coil or toss in a bag – and has a ground prong* so it’s limited to those types of AC outlets – the PlayStation cord is ostensibly perfect. “
